ABOUT RICK BRANDT, Ph.D.
Rick originally joined TalentQuest in 1996. Currently, serving as Executive Vice President at TalentQuest, he provides thought leadership to our future direction and our product and service offerings, as well specializing in executive coaching and work with executive teams.
Rick obtained his Ph.D. in clinical psychology and spent 10 years working in private practice and local government before spending the next 20 years of his career consulting with organizations in areas of executive assessment, large-scale leadership development, and high-potential identification and succession planning. He has held direct leadership responsibilities for TalentQuest as President of Consulting Services, and also served for several years as general manager for the Atlanta office of a global talent management consulting firm. These responsibilities have instilled in Rick a strong appreciation for establishing clear priorities, thinking strategically and working collaboratively, staying composed and level-headed under pressure, leading change and driving innovation, and building and developing a strong team.
Over the past decade, Rick has focused much of his professional efforts on providing coaching services to senior level leaders across a variety of industries. He has spent 1000s of hours talking one-on-one with leaders actively problem-solving the many challenges they face today operating the business and leading people. His commitment is to help leaders to experiment and take action to make positive impact. Rick’s coaching style is relationship-based with emphasis on “authentic” leadership (i.e., helping the person to gain stronger self-understanding which acts as a solid foundation for leadership). He acts as a trusted advisor providing candid feedback about things that others may be reluctant to say because of their roles. He questions, supports, challenges, and advises within the context of a safe and confidential relationship.
Rick earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of William & Mary, a Master of Arts degree from The City College of New York, and a Doctorate degree in clinical psychology from The University of Southern Mississippi. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Georgia Psychological Association. He, his wife Carmen, and their daughter Jules live in Marietta, GA. Rick is an avid golfer and also enjoys chess, sports, reading, theater and travel.
